Central Jakarta Administration held an internal meeting of Human Trafficking Division, Wednesday (7/3). The meeting was attended by civil servant from urban village, sub-district, and related regional working unit.

Central Jakarta Deputy Mayor, Chaidir, said this meeting was held to increase understanding and strengthen synergy in order to minimize and prevent people trafficking cases.

Chaidir explained that human trafficking is a very complex crime against humanity with complex root causes of problems as well. The modes of activity and methods used are also very diverse and continue to develop by involving syndication.

"We must not be careless and continue to strive to strengthen human trafficking prevention," he said.

Chaidir added that this handling also requires synergy, coordination and joint action with relevant stakeholders as a working team in order to protect and provide the rights of victims and witnesses. Likewise in law enforcement efforts for perpetrators of human trafficking crimes.

Central Jakarta Empowerment, Child Protection and Population Handling Sub-agency Head, Dwi Wahyu Rianti, hoped this meeting will able to gain the understanding and tighten cooperation in tackle human trafficking.

"We need joint commitment to tackle this problem," she stated.
